The view from my window...

The snow is so lovely at the minute and makes everything look beautiful. This is the view from my room in Halls. I would like to incorporate the snow into a video of my journey home.

Experimentation.

I experimented firstly by filming my journey home to Belfast.
This experimentation wasn't very successful as it was night-time... I thought the lights might look good rushing past the window but it didn't really have the desired effect.

Perhaps I would be better re-shooting this during the day, so the screen glare of my laptop won't be seen. (I was using the video camera on my mac).

Setting the scene:
Mid-afternoon/dusk.
Snowfall on the ground.
Camera starts by focusing on my face, then pans around to the window to observe my journey home.
Road signs, traffic lights, cars, fences, and houses all zoom past the window in a blur of white.

Storyboarding... a few of my sketches.

I like the idea of creating a video of something I see everyday- such as the view form my window at home, my journey to Derry everyday through the window of the bus, the journey home to Belfast, the walk around university etc.

Ballet.

I have always wanted to somehow incorporate Ballet into one of my animations, as I think it is such a beautiful form of dance and lends itself to many interpretations re:animation. The idea of a Ballerina spinning round in slow motion, then speeding up spinning faster and faster could be a great concept for a moving image piece, perhaps hand-drawn in pencil on intricate paper, or rotoscoped using a graphics tablet, to some interesting music. It also leads itself nicely into a transformation? i.e. ducklings into swans, Swan Lake etc etc.

Cuarteto de Nos

I really like this video. I'm not a huge fan of the song, but I like the style of the video, it kind of reminfs me of the opening credits to the TV show 'Mad Men', with the silhouetted people.
